Temple Info

Prasat Prei, meaning the "Sanctuary of the Forest", is located immediately to the south of Banteay Prei and was built at around the same time in the late 12th century by King Jayavarman VII. The temple is extremely small stands on a small natural hillock, with an outer enclosure measuring about 20 x 24 meters. However, an individual or small group tour much easy to go in a few minutes as it is quite interesting as well. Also, you can visit the Banteay Prei temple near it at the same time.

In front of the main sanctuary, there are remains of an east gate, a very simple and half-ruined Gopuram structure. Inside the relatively small compound surrounded by a laterite wall, you will see the vestiges of a library in the south-east corner, too. The Prasat tower and its adjoining Mandapa antechamber, which are restored, have some well-preserved Devatas or Apsaras on their outer walls and lintel carvings, too.
